FocusJar ("we", "our", "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard your information when you use our macOS application and related services.

2. Information We Collect

We collect minimal information necessary to provide our service:

  • Stripe Customer ID - A unique identifier created by Stripe when you add a payment method. This allows us to process unlock fee payments.
  • Session data - Information about your blocking sessions, including which sites you block, session duration, and whether you unlocked early. This data is stored locally on your device.
  • Basic analytics - Anonymous usage statistics to help us improve the App, such as session frequency and app version.

3. Information We Do Not Collect

We want to be clear about what we don't collect:

  • We do not collect your browsing history beyond the sites you choose to block.
  • We do not store your credit card number, CVV, or billing address. All payment details are handled exclusively by Stripe.
  • We do not collect personal information such as your name, email address, or phone number (unless you contact us directly).
  • We do not sell, rent, or share your data with third parties for marketing purposes.

4. Payment Processing

All payments are processed by Stripe. When you add a payment method, your card details are sent directly to Stripe and are never transmitted to or stored on our servers. We only receive and store a Stripe Customer ID to facilitate future transactions. Please review Stripe's privacy policy for details on how they handle your payment information.

5. Local Data Storage

Your blocking session history, site lists, and preferences are stored locally on your Mac. This data does not leave your device unless you explicitly choose to sync it (if such a feature is available). You can delete this data at any time by removing the App and its associated files.

6. System-Level Permissions

FocusJar requires system-level network permissions to block websites. These permissions are used solely to enforce your chosen website blocks. We do not use these permissions to monitor, log, or transmit your network traffic.

7. Data Security

We take reasonable measures to protect the information we handle. Payment processing is secured by Stripe's PCI-compliant infrastructure. Local data on your device is protected by your macOS security settings and file system permissions.

8. Children's Privacy

FocusJar is not intended for use by children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes through the App or on our website. Continued use of the App after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the revised policy.
